The Canadian federal election is 8 days away, on October 14, 2008. As I’m not a fan of Stephen Harper, I’m planning to vote strategically in order to try and deny the local Conservative rep their seat. Voting strategically means that I might not vote for my first choice – instead, I’ll vote for whichever local representative has the most chance of winning our riding.

If you’re interested in doing the same, check out the Anyone But Harper website. While I find some of the media clips to be over the top, their swing vote widget is very useful. Enter your postal code, and you’ll get a percentage breakdown of party popularity in your riding. If the widget suggests that you vote for your “Best Choice”, just click on the Detailed Reasoning link for the party breakdown.

Thanks to Amber MacArthur for interviewing the person behind anyonebutharper.ca
