Like most of the Internet, I’ve been wanting a Google+ account since the beta test started. Just got one a couple days ago and I’ve been tinkering. Initial thoughts: I really like what they’ve done with the UI. It’s very un-Google-like, and a refreshing change from Facebook’s clutter. Circles are also a great concept & have markedly reduced the amount of “spam” I see from some of my more verbose friends. There are some people that I want to follow, but who chatter a bit too much & overwhelm my stream. With Google+, I can put those folks in a special circle which I can then check when I want to.
No doubt Facebook is watching Google+ closely these days and I expect we’ll see a number of these features incorporated into FaceBook’s platform. But for me there’s no going back.
